Scholar in Residence Weekend

Dear Friends:

Please join us November 19, 20, 21, 2010, as Northern Hills Synagogue-Congregation B’nai Avraham continues its Golden Jubilee Anniversary Celebration with a Scholar-in Residence weekend.  We are honored to have Rabbi Bradley Shavit Artson as our scholar. Rabbi Artson is the Dean of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at American Jewish University in Los Angeles and is one of the leading writers, thinkers and teachers in the Conservative Movement. Many members of NHS-CBA have heard him speak and find him quite engaging.  We know you will be as impressed as they have been. 

Having a scholar of Rabbi Artson’s stature will certainly enhance our 50th anniversary celebration.  You will have the opportunity to hear him speak at Services on Friday night and Shabbat morning, and you can participate in a study session after the Congregational lunch. Saturday evening will feature  a “light” study session and social at the home of Dr. David and Cheryl Bernstein.  On Sunday morning, Rabbi Artson will lead 5th, 6th and 7th grade students in a very special study session. 

Having a scholar in residence is a wonderful educational opportunity, but is also a large financial undertaking.   Funding for the weekend will come from our program funds, but we would like to help defray the costs with sponsors for these events. Founder Sponsorships of $500, Builder Sponsorships of $350, and Partner Sponsorships of $100 will be listed in the program book, provided the funds are received by the July 23rd print deadline.
